This Privacy Policy explains how Gustra (“we”, “us”, or “the App”) handles information when you use the Gustra iPhone application and this website. By using Gustra, you agree to this policy.
1. Who we are
Gustra is a personal restaurant review journal for iOS. Our website is gustra.net. For privacy questions, contact us at privacy@gustra.net.
2. Information we process
Gustra is designed so that your food memories stay primarily on your device.
- Reviews and notes you create — restaurant names, ratings, criteria scores, written notes, dates, and related metadata are stored locally on your iPhone using on-device storage.
- Photos — if you attach photos to a review, those images are stored on your device as part of your journal.
- Location — with your permission, Gustra may use your location to find nearby restaurants and to place reviews on your personal map. You can deny or revoke location access in iOS Settings.
- Camera / photo library — used only when you choose to add images to a review.
- Backups you export — if you create a backup or share reviews, the files you choose to export leave the App under your control (for example via Files, Messages, or Mail).
- Profile details you enter — such as a reviewer name or photo you optionally add in Settings.
3. Map and place search services
To show maps and help you search for restaurants, Gustra may use third-party mapping and places services (such as Google Maps / Places). When those features are used, the service provider may receive technical information needed to fulfill the request (for example approximate location, search queries, and device/network data) under that provider’s own privacy policy. We do not sell this information.
4. How we use information
We use the information described above solely to:
- provide core App features (reviews, map, passport, sharing, and backups);
- remember your preferences (such as enabled rating criteria);
- improve reliability and diagnose on-device storage issues;
- respond to support requests you send us.
5. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your reviews for advertising. Information may leave your device only when:
- you explicitly share or export content;
- a third-party map/places service is needed to fulfill a feature you use;
- required by law or to protect rights and safety.
Apple may process limited technical data related to App Store distribution under Apple’s privacy practices.
6. Retention
Review data remains on your device until you delete it, uninstall the App, or restore from a backup you control. If you contact support by email, we retain that correspondence only as long as needed to help you.
7. Security
We rely on iOS sandboxing and local storage protections. Encrypted backup features, where available in the App, are designed to protect exported archives with credentials you choose. No method of electronic storage is perfectly secure.
8. Children’s privacy
Gustra is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (including the EEA/UK), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because most journal data lives on your device, the fastest way to delete it is within the App or by deleting the App. For website or support-related requests, email privacy@gustra.net.
10. International users
If you access third-party services from outside the country where those services operate, information necessary for those features may be processed in other countries with different data-protection laws.
11. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Gustra after an update means you accept the revised policy.
